You don’t always have to remodel your home to improve it. We’ve put together a list of 10 DIY projects that you can do in a weekend or two to transform your home. You may even enjoy these projects while you’re doing them!

  1. Paint every room that needs it. A fresh coat of paint does wonders for the interior of your home. Make sure to use masking tape as needed and paint the trim as well.
  2. Installing a backsplash is not a difficult task, even if you’ve never tiled before. Choose materials that are easy to work with yet attractive.
  3. New Interior Doors. Interior doors take damage over time and need to be replaced. Replace your interior doors this year with high quality doors that will last for several years to come. You’ll also need new doorknobs, so choose something stylish that will add visual appeal to your home.
  4. New Hardware. New hardware has a way of making the kitchen and bathroom look amazing. Drawer pulls and cabinet door knobs add a lot of appeal to the room.
  5. Caulk around windows and door frames, and sinks, tubs, and showers as well.
  6. Replace Outlets and Switches. Electrical outlets, light switches, and their respective faceplates need to be replaced every five years. You can replace them sooner if they start to show age. This simple change has a way of brightening up a room. Consider decorative faceplates in well-traveled areas to bring attention to the decor.
  7. Install New Faucets. New faucets brighten the kitchen and bathrooms in much the same way new hardware does. Choose faucets that properly fit the type of sink you’re installing them on.
  8. Clean the Deck. The deck, patio, porch, or steps – clean them. Keep the exterior of your home clean and that will help carry the idea through to the rest of your home.
  9. Install Tile Flooring. Many homeowners install tile flooring as a DIY project. Sometimes it turns out amazing, other times they wish they’d never touched the stuff. We fully recommend trying it if you’re an adventurous soul. Just make sure to watch some YouTube videos first.
  10. Install New Lighting. New lighting does more than illuminate the room; it adds to the decorative appeal as well. Choose lighting fixtures that work well with your home’s decor.
